Similarly, East End Press’ spring blooms sewn garlands draw inspiration from blooming hedgerows, featuring fresh seasonal motifs like cow parsley, daisies, and marigolds. Through spring trablescaping, stylist, cook, and creative consultant Kirthanaa Naidu brings this trend to life. Her designs embrace themes of gratitude and simplicity with natural textiles and hand-formed silhouettes.

What we said: Human Hibernation

The concept and benefits of ‘human hibernation’ (taking time away to reflect and restore) drive sentiment and wellness gifting. Messaging centres on the restorative effects and validity of rest, while journals promote introspection, gratitude and intention setting.

Back in 2023, our team began thinking about what life might be like for the householder economy in 2025. Some of the activities we anticipated would be relevant in 2025 are more obvious responses to low consumer confidence. For example, investing in more affordable décor refreshes and getting creative with DIY projects. However, there are less obvious activities we foresaw, such as a ‘freeze-first’ approach to eliminate food waste and finding new ways to reappropriate inherited furniture.

How might you enable customers to adapt what they already own to leverage maximum value from it?

In our 2025 Macro trend report, we forecast the rise of The Savvy Home, where we expected to see householders compromise and find more affordable ways to indulge in the regular stylistic décor refresh they’ve become accustomed to. We cited examples of product innovations and ideas that helped their money go further – from getting more from their fresh groceries with a ‘freeze-first’ approach, to adaptable upholstery covers to regularly switch up the style of their sofa.

1. Why forecasting colour trends for the home requires a uniquely different strategy from fashion forecasting

At TrendBible we know that householders choices are influenced by a very specific set of circumstances. We forecast what’s next using research models specially designed to identify new behaviours and taste shifts at home and in family life, rather than relying on models created for other, very different consumer industries like fashion or beauty. As a result, our colour trend strategy provides clear direction, confidence and longevity for designers in the home and interior industry.

2. How to select colour trends that are rooted in psychology  

Colour is a deeply emotional and symbolic design tool. Our forecast methodology begins with intelligence gathering; using a blend of visual research alongside social and cultural analysis. This two-pronged approach ensures palettes not only reflect what we see happening in the emerging design landscape around us, but also the key emotional triggers for future consumers.

Our team of colour experts and psychologists look at hue, depth, vibrancy and colour balance. In doing so, they create the right levels of excitement and energy, calming harmony or surprise as required by the mood we’ve identified for each trend.

3. Identifying the essential colours for the season across multi-product categories

While highlighting a ‘colour of the year’ provides excellent marketing opportunities and can be used to spotlight a shade or group of colours which have significant appeal, we know it’s impossible to say that a single shade is going to be successful across every category.

That’s why we choose not one, but six key colours for the season ahead. These colours are essential for designers working in categories with limited colour opportunities. They also help to update products where colour nuance has a huge impact; like home appliances, upholstery or tiles.

Each colour has been chosen because of its overarching importance for the season, and the breadth of six shades caters to different markets, categories or materials. Some work beautifully in textiles, while other nuances are better for wall paint and ceramics, glass or even packaging.

4. Ensuring colour ‘Layerability’ for longer-lasting, sustainable design 

Another important consideration within our colour trend forecasting process is the ‘layerability’ of colour. Unlike fashion or beauty, products purchased for the home usually sit alongside products from previous seasons, if not decades for some customers.

Colour trends can take years to fully come and go in the home; think about the influence of grey, or blush pink for instance. For this reason, we don’t introduce new colours unnecessarily.

You will sometimes find a key shade from one season appearing in the following season and we always consider the blending of colours from one season to the next. This has practical, economic and sustainability benefits, making it easier to cross-match stock from the previous season for visual merchandising and to reduce unnecessary lab dips or sampling. It also makes the shopping experience easier and more enjoyable for customers who can build upon the colour palette they have invested in already.

5. How to innovate through colour combinations

Finally, it’s essential to explore colour not in isolation, but alongside the other shades in the palette. Does the trend require contrast or harmony? Depth or lightness? Colour combinations have huge power and new contrast-partners can bring freshness to existing colours. A mauve which may have sat alongside tonal blues and purples in a previous season, takes on a completely different feel when contrasted with an olive green for instance.

Our colour usage guidance shows how the colours in the palette can be combined in different groupings to change the overall feel of the trend. This is especially helpful if you want to explore a single trend across both traditional and directional product assortments or younger and older consumer groups.

For Spring Summer 2025, we see sensory-driven aesthetics redefine the home as a sanctuary. As explored in our Spring Summer 2025 trend, Home Shores (originally published in 2023), the home is low key but refined, taking inspiration from coastal aesthetics. 

This wild yet soothing trend sees householders embrace elemental therapies to recalibrate, tapping into the power of the bracing wind, flowing water and warm earth beneath their feet. Inspired by low-key and low-pressure lakeside lifestyles, the home becomes an oasis of understated design details and furniture that has comfort at its heart.

Home environments nod to the traditional beach hut with curtained storage to hide clutter, rippled detailing on furniture and tiled fireplaces or stoves providing warmth. Waterside sports inspire practical updates to products, including chain link detailing and net-inspired panels. The applications feature sophisticated materials and finishes. Simple futons, low-lying furniture, and deck chairs provide somewhere to relax.

Colour, material, finish (CMF), shape and pattern are all used to soothe and promote rest. Sound and light absorption is increasingly important, creating hushed cocoons. Across product categories, rippling sensorial techniques replicate the feeling of being in water or brushing your hand through sand.

As explored in our Spring Summer 2025 trend, Market Street (originally published in 2023), children are introduced to the vibrant and artisanal design of Latin America.  

The hustle and bustle of food markets provides a familiar setting for children around the world. Roaming stall-lined streets, immersive play experiences mimic the sensorial qualities of the market. Through this exploration, little ones are introduced to the tactile textures of new and unusual fruits. 

Placing authentic artisanship at the forefront of design, products pair traditional weaving and building techniques with bold, contemporary forms and vibrant colour. Hand-built ceramics and papier-maché techniques inspire shape for play, feeding and decor items, with glossy surfaces highlighting their unique imperfections.

Sun-Soaked Summer Shades 

Dopamine-inducing brights are paired with bursts of fresh and juicy pastel hues to create energising combinations. Deep, rich, earthy tones signify the continued importance of naturally derived colours, harmonising with saturated hues and offering trans-seasonal appeal.

Displaying a variety of artisanal techniques, graphically decorated woven surfaces inspire everything from lighting and storage to toys and trinkets.  

Vibrantly coloured strands intertwine with layers of yarns, rattan, repurposed plastics, and acrylic-coated papers, creating intriguing textured surfaces; perfect for small hands to explore. Bold blocks of colour, along with vivid grid, stripe, and zig-zag patterns, form distinctively dynamic designs. ‘Grow to eat’, becomes ‘grow to display’ as seasonal sunny, golden blooms are interspersed with long stems of ripening tomatoes or chillies. Tumbling from centrepieces and cascading from bouquets, these create striking and aromatic gifting opportunities for foodie friends and family members.

What we saw:

Seasonal produce influences are reshaping traditional Valentine’s gifting, moving beyond roses and chocolates. Worm London’s “Radicchio, Not Roses” campaign exemplifies this shift, using radicchio leaves in floral displays to promote seasonality and challenge tradition.

Food-themed puns are increasingly focusing on vegetables, signaling a shift away from traditional sweet food icons like strawberries and cherries. For 2025, tomatoes, olives, and pickles emerge as key motifs across gift and seasonal greeting ranges. A variety of brands are embracing this trend, with phrases including “I love you from my head to-ma-toes” and “Olive you so much” featuring heavily.
